To develop the libraries, information & documentation centres and its professionals, BALID demanded ten demands to the Bangladesh government on 4 April, 2003. Now it is under consideration of the government.
BALID submitted its demands to Hon'ble Prime Minister of the government of Bangladesh. Prime Minister's Office sent it to Ministry of Cultural Affairs for taking necessary action. Ministry of Cultural Affairs formed a committee to find out the procedure to fullfill the demands. The said committee of consisted of Directoriate of library, National Archives and BALID.This committee already submitted their report. BALID hopefull enough about this demands the ten demands are as below:
Demand 1. To form a library commission.
Demand 2. Individual Cadre of Library Professional.
Demand 3. Set up more new libraries.
Demand 4. Pass Library Legislation.
Demand 5. Development of Academic Libraies and its professional's Posts and Salary
reformation.
Demand 6. Development of Institutional Libraies and its professional's post and salary reformation.
Demand 7. Facilities increasing of Education of Library and Information Science.
Demand 8. Establish a new Ministry on Library Affairs.
Demand 9. Fullfillment all the vacant posts.
Demand 10. All the highest posts of Libraris and its relevant should be fullfilled by library professionals.
