Training on MARC21

MARC21 is a mature, long established and widely accepted standard used for the exchange of bibliographic information among computerized library systems. MARC21 was derived from the original MARC record format as redesigned and redefined for the 21st century to make it more accessible to the international community. The probable outcome of the training/workshop may be the basic efficiency of understanding and working knowledge of MARC21 with create/import/migrate, compile, and upload data in an effective way.

 

Course Outline:

Theoretical Session: Introduction to MARC21, MARC21 format details, Basic fields for book cataloguing, Cataloguing e-resources (CD/DVD, e-journal).

Practical session: MarcEdit Software, Preparing record (cataloguing) of a book, compiling record, importing/uploading record. Bangla book cataloguing will also be discussed / demonstrated.
