Membership
People having minimum Master degree with BA/BSS honours in the discipline of Information Science and Library Management/Library and Information Science are entitled to be a member of Bangladesh Association for Librarians, Information Scientists and Documentatists (BALID). Moreover, people those having interest and dedication to this profession can also be an honorary member of the association. BALID members are mainly of two kinds - Corporate and Non Corporate. In addition to, those who have Masters degree in Library and Information Science from Dhaka University upto the session of 1993-94 are also eligible to be a member of BALID.
CORPORATE MEMBER:
The minimum educational qualification for corporate membership should have minimum Master degree with BA/BSS honours in the discipline of Information Science and Library Management/Library and Information Science from any recognized university. Only Corporate members reserve the right to be elected and to cast votes in the executive council election. These members are eligible for becoming a life member of the Association by paying prescribed fees. There are two kinds of corporate member - Fellow Member and General Member.
Fellow Member: The qualification for fellowship is a minimum Master degree with BA/BSS honours in the discipline of Information Science and Library Management/Library and Information Science or equivalent degree with 15 years of professional experience or Doctor of Philosophy in the said discipline with at least 7 years of professional working experience and special dedication to the respective field.
General Member: Member having a minimum Master degree with BA/BSS honours in the discipline of Information Science and Library Management/Library and Information Science will be treated as a general member.

NON CORPORATE MEMBER:
Members without voting power are treated as non-corporate members of BALlD. These are of two types: Associate Member and Honorary member.

Associate Member: Students those who are studying at Master or BA/BSS honours in the discipline of Information Science and Library Management/Library and Information Science in any University are eligible to be an associate member of BALID.
Honorary Member: People those who have been interest and special dedication to the profession of Library and Information Science for its development and for well being of the nation and the community might be selected for honorary membership.
FEES
General Member: 300 Taka (for 1 year only)
Life Member: 2000 Taka
Associate Member: 200 Taka (for 1 year only)
