BIIM Director is on leave from 16 May to 15 June 2013

Mr. Shamsuddin Ahmed, Director BIIM is on leave from 16 May to 15 June 2013. During this time he will visit different places of Switzerland and Spain. In absence of him Mr. Alom Hossain (Contact no: 01718165832), Joint Secretary General, BALID will work his routine works.

BALID condoles for the victims of Savar Tragedy and opens charity fund

BALID EC and BIIM GB deeply expressed their solidarity with the victims of Savar Tragedy and observed one minute silence in a meeting held at CDL on 10 May 2013. A decision has been taken to open a charity fund to help the victims. All are requested to donate at the fund. Donation can be made through Account Payee Check, Pay Order or Cash. Announcement: Training on MARC 21

BALID Institute of Information Management (BIIM) is going to arrange a day-long training programme on MARC 21 on 29 June 2013. Training on EndNote held at icddr,b - 19 April 2013

BALID Institute of Information Management (BIIM) organized a day-long training on EndNote x6 at PC Lab of icddr,b on 19 April 2013. In the inaugural session Dr. Mirza Mohd Rezaul Islam, Chairman, BALID and BIIM welcome the participants and Mr. Shamsuddin Ahmed, BIIM Director presided over the session.

Dr. Md. Nazim Uddin, Senior Manager icddr,b and member GB & BIIM also spoke on the occasion. Resource persons of the training programme were Mr. Md. Shafiur Rahman, Dr Md. Nazim Uddin, Md. Harun-Or-Rashid Khandaker and Mr. Md. Al Mamun. There was Certificate Awarding Ceremony at the end of the training. Mr. Muhammad Hossam Haider Chowdhury, Librarian, IUB and former Chairman, BALID, BALID Chairman Dr. Mirza Mohd. Rezaul Islam distributed the certificates among the participants and resource persons.

Lecture on Bibliometrics held at ULAB Seminar Room - 27 April 2013

As a part of regular programme, BALID Institute of Information Management (BIIM), a sister concern of Bangladesh Association of Librarians, Information Scientists and Documentalists (BALID) organized a Lecture on Bibliometrics in collaboration with University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) on 27 April 2013 at ULAB Seminar Room. Around 60 professionals from different institutions took part in the programme.

Professor Imran Rahman, Vice-Chancellor of ULAB graced the inaugural session as Chief Guest while Dr. Mirza Mohd. Rezaul Islam, Chairman, BALID and BIIM presided over the session. Dr. SM Zabed Ahmed, Professor and Chairman of the Dept. of Information Science and Library Management, University of Dhaka & Librarian, DU Library spoke as special guest. Mr. Kazi Ali Reza, Officer-in-Charge, UNIC Dhaka also spoke on the session.

Dr. SM Zabed Ahmed delivered his key note presentation on Bibliometrics. At the end of the programme, Dr. Md. Nazim Uddin, Senior Manager, Library and Information Service Section of icddr,b shared his experience on bibliometrics services provided by icddr,b.
