Annual Picnic 2013

The annual picnic of Bangladesh Association of Librarians, Information Scientists and Documentalists (BALID) is going to be held on Saturday, 09 February 2013, at Dream Holiday, Narsingdi. All library professionals are kindly requested to join us in Narsingdi Picnic 2013. Please confirm us your participation by 25 January 2013.

Announcement: Training/Workshop on Advance Search skills on the Internet Resources

Bangladesh Association of Librarians, Information Scientists and Documentalists (BALID) has established an institution called BALID Institute of Information Management (BIIM). The institution aims to enrich the knowledge of library professionals, students and researchers. BIIM is going to organize a series of Training/Workshop and Lecture Series throughout the year 2013.

The programmes would be effective and useful for the professionals, young researchers and students of Information Science and Library Management (ISLM). Initially, a day-long training programme titled “Advance Search skills on the Internet Resources” will be held on 26 January 2013. To attend the programme, please contact with the designated persons along with a completed application form and training fee.

The 19th AGM of BALID and Annual Picnic 2012

The 19th AGM of BALID was held at Sonargaon Folk Arts & Crafts Museum on 24 February 2012. After the AGM, a 17 members new Executive Committee was formed through a election. Dr. Mirza Mohd Rezaul Islam, Faradul Islam Farid and Md. Humayun Kabir were elected as Chairman, Secretary General and Finance Ssecretary respectively (See full committee list).

The Annual Picnic of BALID was held at the same place on the same day where BALID members took part in various fun events. There was also a raffle draw at the end of picnic events.

Day-long Seminar on BALID Silver Jubilee Celebration

On the occasion of 25th Anniversary of BALID, a daylong seminar was held at RC Majumder Auditorium of Dhaka University on 9 December 2011.

Architect Yafes Osman, MP, State Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology was the Chief Guest and Md Eunusur Rahman, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Public Administration was Special Guest in the seminar.

Prof. AAMS Arefin Siddique, VC, Dhaka University presided over the seminar while Kazi Mostak Gausul Hoq, Assistant Professor of Dhaka University presented the key-note paper. BALID Chairman M Hossam Haider Chowdhury delivered the welcome address. The inaugural session of the seminar was moderated by Prof. Dr. S.M Mannan and Ms. Dilara Begum.

Earlier, two technical sessions were chaired by M Shamsul Islam Khan and Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman. The sessions were conducted by Dr. Md. Nazim Uddin.
